Tata Motors Inc. is renaming its about-to-be introduced five-door mini-hatch the Tiago to avoid reference to the mosquito-borne zika virus linked to head deformity in newborn babies.

Tata chose the name over two other finalists, Civet and Adore, after running a contest on social media that produced more than 37,000 suggestions.

The original Zica name was short for “zippy car.” Tata had planned to launch the well-equipped, $5,800 car earlier this month at the New Delhi auto show. It now expects to begin sales by the end of March.
