India’s Tata Motors Inc. has reached an agreement with Bolivian Auto Motors to market three of its small commercial truck models in Bolivia. The company already exports trucks to Chile, Ecuador, Uruguay and Venezuela.
The Bolivian deal involves Tata’s Xenon pickup truck and two cab-forward light commercial vehicles: the SuperAce 1-ton truck and LPT 513 4-ton truck. The two smaller trucks are powered by 4-cylinder gasoline engines. The LPT 523 comes with a 6-cylinder diesel. The partners did not disclose their sales targets.
The trucks initially are available in Santa Cruz, but they also will be offered soon in Cochabamba and La Paz, according to Tata.
Bolivian Auto Motors is a unit of Salvatierra, a Bolivian business conglomerate that distributes a variety of vehicle brands in the country. Tata says its partnership should help it double exports of commercial vehicles to 100,000 units in two years.
