Takata to Boost Production in Mexico for Airbag Inflators
Takata Corp. says it will open two new production lines in Monclova, Mexico, to make replacement airbag inflators for those being recalled in the U.S. by 10 carmakers.
Takata Corp. says it will open two new production lines in Monclova, Mexico, to make replacement airbag inflators for those being recalled in the U.S. by 10 carmakers.
In the past two months carmakers have called back more than 8 million vehicles equipped with Takata airbag inflators that can explode when triggered.
The supplier's new assembly lines are expected to begin operations in January. They will join one line that is scheduled to make nearly 1.5 million replacement units by February.
