Shigehisa Takata, the president and CEO of beleaguered airbag supplier Takata Corp., has agreed to take a 30% pay cut over the next 12 months in recognition of the company’s rising airbag inflator recall costs.

Shigehisa Takata, the president and CEO of beleaguered airbag supplier Takata Corp., has agreed to take a 30% pay cut over the next 12 months in recognition of the company’s rising airbag inflator recall costs.

In addition, the company’s board members will take 20% salary cuts and forego bonuses for the fiscal year ended March 31, Bloomberg News reports.

Takata airbags have been linked to at least 13 deaths and more than 100 injuries worldwide, prompting recalls involving roughly 100 million vehicles.
