Suzuki Motor Corp. has become the first Japanese carmaker to supply its home market with cars built in India.
On Wednesday the company officially kicked off sales of its Indian-made Baleno small hatchback in Japan. CEO Osamu Suzuki says the quality of the cars matches that of vehicles produced in Japan.
Suzuki plans to export the redesigned Baleno to 100 global markets. The company has been making cars in India for more than 30 years. Its Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. venture controls nearly half of India’s passenger-car market.
