Subaru Corp. has relaunched production in Japan after defective parts from a sole source shut down the company’s main plant on Jan. 16.

Subaru halted operations at its factory in Gunma—which makes Impreza small cars and Forester and XV crossover vehicles—after discovering a defect in power steering electronics that made vehicles more difficult to turn. The factory contributes roughly 60% of the company's entire global output.

The faulty components came from Hitachi Automotive Systems, according to The Nikkei. The newspaper says Subaru is contemplating a recall, because the defective parts were installed in vehicles beginning late last month.
