Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. has boosted the global sales target for its Subaru brand by 100,000 units to 1.2 million vehicles in fiscal 2020. The new goal compares with this year’s expected record volume of at least 950,000 units.
FHI is expected to announce its new sales objectives on Thursday. The Nikkei says the company will increase its target for North America by about 100,000 cars from 600,000 previously. It will leave its 200,000-unit forecast for Japan unchanged and slightly reduce its goal for China.
Subaru has set annual sales records for the past three years. The company plans to double annual capacity at its U.S. plant in Lafayette, Ind., to 400,000 units by the end of this year to help meet demand in that market.
