Subaru of America Inc. has begun construction of a new $118 million corporate headquarters in Camden, N.J., that will combine operations currently conducted at four locations.

The two-building, 333,000-sq-ft campus is twice the size of the company’s current headquarters four miles away in Cherry Hill. Subaru expects the new facility to open by the end of 2017 with offices for 600 employees.

When Subaru, a unit of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd., announced plans a year ago to relocate, it expected to move into a building currently owned by Campbell Soup Co. by the end of next year. The all-new facility is being constructed adjacent to that property in a new urban town center community.
