South Korea’s SsangYong Motor Co. says it will offer an all-electric variant of its next-generation Korando SUV/crossover vehicle in 2020.

The company, which is owned by India’s Mahindra Mahindra Ltd., will publicly unveil the redesigned Korando next week at the Geneva auto show. A teaser image of the compact vehicle shows a redesigned front end with revised grille and headlights.
The fourth-generation Korando is the same length (173 inches) and width (72 inches) as the current model. But the new SUV gains more than an inch in height, standing 66 inches tall. Interior highlights include higher end materials, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a nine-inch infotainment system.
SsangYong previewed the design of the new Korando and an electric powertrain with last year’s e-SIV concept. That vehicle is powered by a 188-hp electric motor and 61-kWh battery, which provides an estimated driving range of 280 miles.
SsangYong sells the Korando in Asia and Europe. The company previously has said it aims to eventually market vehicles in the U.S.
