South Korea’s environmental ministry may ban the sale of 32 Audi, Bentley and Volkswagen models over claims that Volkswagen Group falsified emission and noise certification data.

The ministry will decide on the possible ban after a July 22 hearing in Seoul. The office says Volkswagen Group currently sells 27 of the 32 targeted models in Korea. Last year the carmaker marketed about 68,000 imported vehicles in the country.

The ministry’s announcement comes two weeks after Korean prosecutors arrested a VW executive accused of manipulating data about emission levels from the company’s diesel engines.

In early June the ministry fined Nissan Motor Co. 340 million won ($291,000) for falsifying diesel emissions and ordered the company to recall 800 diesel-powered Qashqai SUVs. Nissan has sued the government over what it describes as unwarranted charges.
