Souped-Up Hennessey Hellcat Tops 800 hp

Houston-based Hennessey Performance Engineering has upped the horsepower ante with an 805-hp variant of the Hellcat-powered Dodge Charger SRT. That's nearly 100 horses more than the stock model, which puts out an impressive 707 hp.
Hennessey attributes the increase to a new electronic control unit, high-flow air filter, port-matched throttle body and a beefier lower pulley that increases supercharger boost. Additional tweaks to the supercharger can bump output to a jaw-dropping 852 hp.
Introduced last year, the base Charger SRT features a 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 engine that generates 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, with a top speed of 204 mph and 0-60 mph time of three seconds. Torque levels and performance times for the Hennessey HPE850 haven't been announced.
The Hennessey HPE850 and HPE850 Chargers also feature special badging inside and out. This includes numbered plaques under the hood and on the dashboard.
