Volkswagen AG is expanding the availability of its digital display technology to its Skoda brand.
The so-called “virtual cockpit” system—already available in several Audi and SEAT models—will be a $590 option on new Skoda Karoq, Kodiaq, Octavia and Superb vehicles. The feature won’t be available on lower-tier Skoda cars built on older platforms.
The system includes a large thin-film-transistor instrumental panel with 3D graphics. Users can customize the display to highlight different information and controls and use a zoom function for the GPS map.
