Ford Motor Co. is rolling out a software update that allows owners of 2011-2016 vehicles to add Apple's Siri Eyes-Free voice-command system.

The service, which can be downloaded for free via Ford’s Web site, will be available to owners of about 5 million vehicles equipped with the company’s second-generation Sync infotainment system.

Once downloaded, Siri Eyes-Free can be activated by holding down the voice recognition button located on the steering wheel. Drivers can use the system to make phone calls, look up phone numbers and points of interest, set reminders, check the weather, get directions via Apple Maps and audibly send or receive text messages.
