Shiloh Industries Inc. is building an $11 million technical center west of Detroit in Plymouth Township, Mich., as it transitions from being a process supplier to a product supplier.

The Valley City, Ohio-based maker of steel and aluminum metal stampings and laser-welded custom blanks aims to reach annual sales of $1 billion in 2015 from an expected $800 million this year, with help from five acquisitions in the past two years.

CEO Ramzi Hermiz tells Crain's Detroit Business the company has now assembled the capacity and capabilities to take on global platform programs.

Shiloh's customers include General Motors, Chrysler and Volkswagen. Hermiz says the company's strategy is to hike content per vehicle rather than rely solely upon expanding its customer base.
