Shiloh Industries Inc. is launching a $30 million joint venture in Nantong, China, to make aluminum castings for carmakers.
The Ohio-based company, which specializes in lightweighting products, will own 55% of a casting plant it is building with Suzhou Sanji Foundry Equipment Co. Ltd. The greenfield facility is expected to begin operations in mid-2016.
The China facility will make Shiloh's line of aluminum CastLight products using high-pressure die casting and Suzhou's squeeze-casting equipment. The plant also will perform heat treating and precision machining operations.
Shiloh says it also plans to open a technical center in Shanghai at a later date.
