September Car Sales Climb 10% in Europe

Deliveries of passenger vehicles across Europe rose to 1.39 million last month compared with 1.27 million in September 2014, thanks to increases in virtually every country in the region, industry group ACEA reports. It was Europe’s 25th consecutive year-on-year increase.
Monthly sales climbed in the U.K. (+9% to 462,500), Germany (+5% to 272,500 units), France (+9% to 164,800), Italy (+17% to 130,100) and Spain (+23% to 69,800).
All manufacturers reported group gains in September. Leaders include Volkswagen Group (+8% to 325,500 units), PSA (+5% to 136,800), Ford (+8% to 110,300), Renault (+5% to 110,100), BMW (+17% to 103,600), and Opel (+6% to 99,200).
Among luxury brands, BMW outsold Mercedes-Benz 78,800 units to 77,600 units. Audi was third with sales of 75,400 vehicles.
