South Korea’s capital is expanding a citywide car-share service being offered by six local providers.
Seoul’s Nanum-Car partnership service launched in February 2013 with about 300 dedicated parking spots and 500 cars. The service expects to increase its dedicated pickup/drop-off points to 1,600 this year from about 1,300 in 2015, The Korea Herald reports. The program hopes to surpass 2,400 locations by 2018.
The service began with about 500 cars. This year the fleet is expected to reach 4,700 vehicles from 2,900 in 2015, the newspaper says. Available cars later this year will include almost 700 electrics, up from about 360 in 2015.
Participating companies include Green Point, HanCar, KT Rental, Korail Networks, LG CNS and Socar.
