The growth rate was the market's strongest since October 2012, when year-on-year sales soared 21%. Among the biggest gainers last month were Maruti Suzuki (+28% to 84,200 units), Honda (+8% to 11,900) and Tata (+58% to 5,700).
SIAM reports a 3% decline in motorcycle sales. But it says commercial vehicle deliveries in April gained 6%, thanks to a 25% jump in medium- and heavy-duty trucks that offset a 4% drop in sales of light commercial vehicles.
