RV Maker Winnebago Buys Boat Builder Chris-Craft
Winnebago Industries Inc. has acquired recreational boat builder Chris-Craft.
Winnebago Industries Inc. has acquired recreational boat builder Chris-Craft. Terms were not disclosed, but Winnebago will finance the purchase with cash and debt.
The Forest City, Iowa, based motor home builder says the 144-year-old Chris-Craft luxury brand will fit well with its own clientele’s lifestyle, demographics and interests. Chris-Craft was acquired by London-based investment firm Stellican Ltd. in 2001.
The deal is Winnebago’s first foray into the marine market. The company also makes travel trailers, fifth wheel trailers and specialty vehicles.
Chris-Craft will maintain its headquarters in Sarasota, Fla. Stephen Heese will continue as president of the boatmaker, which will be operated as a business unit, according to Winnebago.
