Russia’s Central Scientific Research Automobile and Automotive Engines Institute in Moscow is developing a new range of high-end vehicles for government officials, including a limousine for President Vladimir Putin.
The 12.4-billion-ruble ($183 million) program will include at least three other body styles: a sedan, minivan and SUV. An armored off-road military vehicle also is under consideration, Commerce and Industry Minister Denis Mantrurov tells journalists.
Some media reports say Russia has hired Porsche to help develop engines—possibly including a new V-12 mill—for the vehicles.
In addition to government use, all of the vehicles will be available for public purchase, Mantrurov says.
