Rolls Will Use Aluminum for Crossover
BMW AG's Rolls-Royce unit will use an aluminum spaceframe architecture for its first crossover vehicle and adopt a similar construction for all future cars, according to CEO Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes.

BMW AG's Rolls-Royce unit will use an aluminum spaceframe architecture for its first crossover vehicle and adopt a similar construction for all future cars, according to CEO Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes.
He tells Automotive News Europe the crossover's frame won't be shared with BMW, although some of the vehicle's other components will be borrowed from the upcoming BMW X7 large crossover. Both models are scheduled to debut in 2018.
Mueller-Oetvoes says the Rolls crossover will use aluminum extensively for body panels and other components. He declined to tell ANE whether the design will include two or three rows of seats.
