BMW AG's Rolls-Royce unit has named Giles Taylor, head of exterior design, to become overall design director on July 1. He will report to BMW senior vice president of design Adrian van Hooydonk.

Taylor succeeds Ian Cameron, who is retiring after 13 years as Rolls-Royce design leader.

Taylor joined the boutique British luxury brand in 2011 from Jaguar, where he was credited for penning the XK sports coupe and XJ sedan.
