Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV will kill the Dodge Viper sports car after the 2017 model year, according to Allpar.com. The Chrysler enthusiast Web site says the carmaker’s proposed new contract with the United Auto Workers union has no plans for the iconic car, which was launched in 1992.

FCA builds the Viper at its Conner Avenue facility in Detroit. The 2015 model was launched early this year. It’s powered by an 8.4-liter V-10 engine that makes 645 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque.

Allpar notes that Chrysler began the Viper as an engineering study and never intended to produce the car this long. Production was discontinued briefly after the financial crisis and Fiat’s takeover of Chrysler.
