Volkswagen AG is readying a plan to assemble cars from kits in Nigeria as early as next year, sources tell Bloomberg News.
The news service says VW would partner with Dubai-based Stallion Group to set up production. The report doesn't indicate the venture's volume target or say which model the partners will build.
A Nigerian operation would mark VW's first assembly site on the continent outside South Africa. Bloomberg notes that Nigeria, which already hosts low-volume assembly facilities for Nissan and PSA Peugeot Citroen, is Africa's most populous and richest country.
