Renault SA’s new chairman may replace at least two of the company’s board members, sources tell Bloomberg News.

The sources say Jean-Dominique Senard, the former Michelin & Cie. CEO who was named chairman last month, wants a more critical and independently minded board. Senard replaced Carlos Ghosn, who has been in jail in Japan since Nov. 19 on charges of financial wrongdoing in his former role as chairman of Nissan Motor Co.

Two Renault board members are likely to be replaced when their four-year terms expire, according to Bloomberg. They are Cherie Blair, wife of the U.K.’s former prime minister; and Philippe Lagayette, who is 75 years old.

Renault and Nissan are examining their management practices in the wake of Ghosn’s arrest. Bloomberg’s sources say Renault is ready to dismiss executives who emerge as ethically challenged.
