The carmakers declined to comment. But sources tell Reuters that VW’s board has signed off on the deal and that an announcement about the partnership could be made this week.
Last autumn, Eckhard Scholz, who heads VW’s light-commercial vehicle division, told Bloomberg News the company was exploring potential partnerships. VW previously collaborated with Daimler AG on commercial vans.
