General Motors Co. is developing an extended-length version of the Chevrolet Blazer midsize crossover vehicle it plans to launch in China early next year, GM Authority reports.

Citing internal documents obtained from GM’s joint venture with China’s SAIC Motor Corp., the website says the new model will be a production version of the FNR-CarryAll concept (pictured) unveiled last November at the Guangzhou auto show.
Marketed as the Blazer XL, the stretched vehicle will add a third row of seating to the current platform. The wheelbase will be increased slightly, while overall length will gain nearly six inches.
SAIC-GM will begin production a year from now in Shanghai, according to the report. Sales in other markets—especially those that don’t offer the larger Chevy Traverse—are expected to be added later.
Styling of the production version likely will be toned down slightly from the muscular CarryAll concept. Deliveries of the 2019 two-row Blazer started last month.
