Report: Car Sales in Europe Grew 9% in July

ACEA, the industry's official statistical source, won't report July-August data until September.
JATO's analysis on Europe's top 29 markets shows demand in the region's five largest countries continued to expand. Volumes were up in Germany (+7%), the U.K. (+3%), France (+2%), Italy (+15%) and Spain (+24%).
The firm says sales climbed for all major brands in July. Automotive News reports results were led by Volkswagen Group's VW brand (+8% to 152,200 units), Ford (+7% to 84,500), Opel/Vauxhall (+3% to 74,700), Renault (+5% to 70,800) and Peugeot (+11% to 70,200).
Among luxury brands, Audi sales last month climbed 9% to 69,600 units, Mercedes-Benz advanced 12% to 62,900 and BMW grew 7% to 57,500.
