Renault SA tells Auto Express it will reveal a plug-in hybrid concept at the Geneva auto show in March and intends to eventually introduce a production version of the car.
Remi Bastien, Renault head of research, advanced studies and materials, tells the British enthusiast magazine that the hybrid will be capable of fuel efficiency as great as 141 mpg. The gasoline-electric concept is B-segment car about the size of a Clio small sedan.
Renault also is working to improve electric vehicle practicality and range. Bastien says better aerodynamics are more important than reducing weight in EVs. He also opines that the industry is only halfway toward discovering the limits of battery technology.
