Renault SA’s board says a preliminary audit has found nothing irregular about compensation payments to Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn.
Renault SA’s board says a preliminary audit has found nothing irregular about compensation payments to Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn.
The review covered Ghosn’s remuneration between 2015 and 2018. Renault’s lawyers also presented the board with a report from Nissan Motor Co. that details their own investigation that claims that Ghosn underreported his compensation by about $43 million in fiscal 2010-2014.
Ghosn, along with board member Greg Kelly, was arrested in Japan on Nov. 19 and indicted on Dec. 10. The two men also were re-arrested on new charges of continuing the underreporting in fiscal 2015-2017.
Renault’s board directed the company’s attorneys to continue examining Nissan’s allegations. The board adds that it has not received information about Ghosn’s defense against the charges.
