The Renault-Nissan alliance plans to hire at least 300 software engineers and other technical experts this month, Bloomberg News reports.
The news agency says the new hires will have experience in vehicle connectivity and mobility services. They will become part of the alliance’s new connected-cars program that aims to introduce 10 vehicles with autonomous driving features by 2020. The team will be split between Renault’s research and development center in Guyancourt, France, and Nissan’s facility in Atsugi, Japan.
The group will be led by Ogi Redzic, who was hired in January. He previously worked at Navteq’s Here maps division, which was purchased last year by Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
