Regulators in China say Honda Motor Co. will recall 222,700 Accord sedans in the country to fix a turbocharger problem that can suddenly reduce engine power.

At issue is the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine’s intercooler. The device is a mechanical heat exchanger that boosts power and reduces the chance of engine knock by lowering the temperature of air entering the engine.
Regulators say that under certain conditions, the engine speed in affected cars may unexpectedly drop to protect the powerplant. Dealers will eliminate the problem by modifying the intercooler to improve air flow, according to regulators.
