Qualcomm Signs as Tech Sponsor for Mercedes F1 Team

San Diego-based Qualcomm Technologies Inc. has signed a multi-year sponsorship deal as a technology partner with last year's Formula One champion team, Mercedes AMG Petronas. Details were not disclosed.

The deal will include collaboration between Qualcomm and Mercedes on connected-car technologies to help improve the performance of the team's F1 cars this year and beyond.

Qualcomm says it will help the team develop faster and more reliable race cars and improve operational and power efficiencies. The company has about 40 programs with other carmakers to expand connectivity, communications and safety systems in vehicles.
