New-car sales by PSA Group’s venture with China’s Dongfeng Motor Group Co. have sagged 17% to 321,200 vehicles in January-July, according to the Internet Info Agency in Beijing.
The partnership, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co., saw sales shrink 7% to 34,300 units last month, making it unlikely that the company will reach its full-year sales target of 770,000 cars in 2016, says Automotive News China.
The Chinese-language Internet Info Agency notes that PSA’s venture stopped reporting monthly sales last year after its sales began to shrink. The company makes main-market Citroen- and Peugeot-brand cars.
A separate PSA venture with Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. handles local production of the upscale Citroen DS lineup.
