PSA Peugeot Citroen sold 2.94 million cars and light trucks last year, up from 2.82 million in 2013. It was the company's first year-on-year increase since 2000.
PSA says growth was driven by results in China, where volume jumped one-third to 734,100 units. China is now the group's largest national market, overtaking France (637,700 units).
Sales in France totaled 637,700 vehicles. Demand for Europe overall advanced 8% to 1.76 million. Global volume of the company's Peugeot and Citroen brands climbed 5% and 4%, respectively.
PSA's premium DS brand posted full-year sales of 118,500 vehicles, down 3%. Shrinkage in Africa/Middle East, Europe, Eurasia and India-Pacific offset a successful brand launch in China.
