PSA Peugeot Citroen says it will introduce a new low-price model, the Peugeot 301 sedan, this autumn for emerging markets.

The car, which will be unveiled in September at the Paris auto show, will be produced in Vigo, Spain. It will go on sale in November in such markets as Africa, eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Russia. The 301 will not be offered in western Europe.

PSA predicts the car, which is expected to start about $16,000, will become its highest-volume model. Peugeot last sold a model named 301 in the 1930s.

The 14.6-ft.-long car reportedly will be offered with a choice of one diesel and two gasoline engines producing between 70 hp and 114 hp. Other upscale features will include air conditioning, rear park assist and MP3/USB/Bluetooth connectivity.
