The Canadian Auto Workers union says it probably it won't reach a tentative agreement on a new contract with Chrysler Group LLC until the end of this week. The union previously predicted the parties could settle by Monday or Tuesday.
Chrysler has complained it can't afford to match the terms of the contracts the CAW signed last week with Ford and General Motors.
The union has expressed willingness to be flexible within the framework of the pattern deal. The CAW says it has dropped its demand that Chrysler commit to creating new jobs in Canada. Ford and GM pledged work that would increase employment.
