Volkswagen AG's Porsche brand will present a Panamera wagon concept at the Paris auto show in September, Autocar reports.
The Panamera, Porsche's first four-door sedan, has been well received since its debuted three years ago. Autocar says the company's decision to build a wagon variant will depend on public response to the concept model.
A production version of the wagon is not likely before 2016, according to the British enthusiast magazine. It says the variant would come when Porsche rolls out the next-generation Panamera. That model is expected to share its platform and powertrains with Bentley luxury models under a previously announced VW plan to better integrate its product development.
Porsche may develop standard and long-wheelbase versions of the wagon, primarily for the European and other non-North American markets. The company also is developing a shorter-wheelbase two-door and cabriolet version of the Panamera, according to Autocar. The magazine says that platform also is likely to carry the next-generation Bentley Continental GT and GTC coupes.
