Porsche AG is recalling 99,700 sedans and SUVs in the U.S. that could roll away after drivers shift the transmission into Park.

The campaign, which is expected to begin in August, involves certain 2003-2010 model Cayenne midsize SUV/crossovers and 2010-2016 model Panamera sport sedans (pictured).
The problem is a faulty plastic bushing that attaches the gearshift cable from the shift lever to the transmission. Over time, the bushing can degrade and come loose from the gearbox. If so, the transmission may not be in Park when the gear selector says it is.
It’s also possible that the gear shifter won’t move into the desired position. In either case, there is no warning message or chime to alert the driver. Dealers will replace the bushing with one made of a sturdier material.
