Porsche AG says it will build a production version of the Mission E Cross Turismo electric concept vehicle that was unveiled at the Geneva auto show in March.
Spy shots of the low-slung crossover (also referred to as a shooting brake or sportback) appeared on several internet sites yesterday. The vehicle shares a platform with the upcoming Taycan sports car, which had been codenamed the Mission E through most of its development.
The spy shots suggest that the production model may lose some of the ruggedness from the Cross Turismo concept (pictured).
Power will come from the same electric architecture used in the Taycan sedan, which generates 600 hp and provides a 500-km (310-mile) driving range.
Porsche says the new wagon will create an additional 300 jobs at its Zuffenhausen, Germany, plant. The factory already has added 1,200 people to build the Taycan.
