Porsche AG confirms earlier media reports that Oliver Blume has been named chairman of the company's executive board, effective Oct. 1.

Blume, 47, has been a board member since the beginning of 2013 as head of production and logistics. He will succeed Matthias Mueller, who was appointed chairman of Volkswagen AG late last week.

The executive board also elected Lutz Meschke, 49, as its new deputy chairman. Meschke replaces Thomas Edig, who will join VW's board on Thursday as head of human resources for commercial vehicles.

Porsche also announced that Detlev von Platen, 51, will join its board as director of global sales and marketing. Currently head of Porsche Cars operations in North America, von Platen succeeds Bernhard Maier, who is now CEO of VW's Skoda unit.
