Porsche AG has purchased a 10% stake in Croatia’s Rimac Automobil, which specializes in high-performance electric hypercars and related technologies. Terms weren’t disclosed.

As part of the investment, Porsche aims to form a development partnership with Rimac and potentially source some of the Croatian company’s electric systems. Porsche’s first EV, the Taycan sports car, is due next year.

Rimac introduced its latest prototype vehicle, the Concept Two electric supercar (pictured), in February at the Geneva auto show. In addition to its own vehicles, Rimac supplies batteries for such high-performance electrics as the Koenigsegg Regera and upcoming Aston Martin Valkyrie.

Rimac also is developing automated and connected vehicle technologies. The company employs about 400 people.
