Porsche 911 Gets a Lift

Porsche AG is giving its iconic 911 sports car a lift. The 2016 model will include a hydraulic system that raises the front end 1.5 inches to improve ground clearance when needed.
Drivers can activate the integrated lifting cylinders in the struts of the front axle at the touch of a button at vehicle speeds as high as 21 mph. It takes about five seconds to complete the lift.
Porsche says the optional system will help 911 owners navigate ramps, bumps, curbs and other obstacles without bottoming out or scraping the front of their cars.
Earlier this month the carmaker announced the updated 911 will include an all-wheel-steering system. The technology turns the rear wheels in the same direction as the front wheels during certain high-speed maneuvers and in the opposite direction when parking and for other tight turns.
