Expectations about Germany's economy improved for the sixth consecutive month in December, according to the country's Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim.
The center's indicator for Germany rose 7.4 points from November to a record high 62.0 in December. The index was at 36.3 in July.
ZEW says the financial market experts it surveyed remain "quite optimistic" about the German economy in 2014 in spite of disappointing economic data over the past two months.
Respondents also are confident about the eurozone next year. ZEW's index of expectations for the region rose 8.1 points to 68.3 in December. The indicator for current economic conditions improved by 7.2 points but is still in negative territory at -54.4, according to the center.
