General Motors Co. says the long-rumored minicar from its Adam Opel AG unit will be called Adam when it goes on sale next year.

The little three-door coupe, which had been code named Junior, will be publicly introduced at the Paris auto show in September.

The 12-foot-long Adam will compete with such models as the Fiat 500 and BMW Mini. Opel says the car will "radically change" public perception about the company's brand. Reports say the four-seater will be priced above the Opel Corsa small car and, like the 500, be offered with a long list of customizing options.
