PSA Group’s Opel/Vauxhall unit has decided not to participate at the upcoming Paris auto show, joining a growing list of carmakers that have opted out of the October event.

Brands that already have said they won’t be at the biannual Paris show include Aston Martin, Bentley, Fiat, Ford, Infiniti, Mazda, McLaren, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Jeep, Rolls-Royce, Volkswagen and Volvo. The nameplates account for almost 40% of European sales, Automotive News Europe notes.

Opel, whose sales have slumped since being acquired by PSA last year, also missed the Geneva auto show in March. The company says it is putting a “stronger emphasis” on its own events to promote new vehicle launches. The company tells ANE it will return to auto shows when it makes “business and communications sense.”

More than 1 million people attended the 2016 Paris auto show, which organizers say make it the largest show in the world. About 10,000 journalists attended the event.
