The Opel Ampera-e electric sedan—Europe’s version of General Motors Co.’s Chevrolet Bolt—will go on sale in Norway next spring at a price of 299,900 crowns ($35,400), according to the company.
The Bolt is priced at $37,500 in the U.S. GM builds both models at a factory outside Detroit.
Opel cautions that Ampera-e prices will vary by market. The company says sales will expand by mid-2017 to France, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Most of European markets will be added by early 2018.
The European rollout of the Ampera-e will target markets with an existing EV charging infrastructure and government sales incentives. Norway, where EV sales captured 22% of the market last year, already has 100,000 battery-powered vehicles on the road.
The Ampera-e has a range of about 500 km (311 miles) per charge on the New European Driving Cycle, according to Opel. The company says the vehicle can be charged for about 150 km of range in 30 minutes using a 50 kW direct-current charging connection.
