General Motors Co.'s Opel unit has agreed to extend a guarantee not to eliminate jobs at three plants in Germany through the end of 2018.
The two-year pact covers Opel factories in Eisenach, Kaiserslautern and Russelsheim. The announcement follows a visit to the Russelsheim plant by new GM CEO Mary Barra last week, who reiterated GM's determination to make Opel profitable.
