PSA Group reports that its sales in the first half of 2018 climbed 38% to 2.18 million units, mainly because of its acquisition last year of Opel/Vauxhall from General Motors Co.

Global demand for PSA’s legacy Citroen, DS and Peugeot brands advanced 2% in January-June.

The addition of 550,900 Opel/Vauxhall sales in Europe gave PSA a 62% jump to 1.67 million units in the first half. The company’s market share for the region surged 6 points to 17.2%.

Deliveries for the period plunged 19% to 226,100 units in the Middle East and Africa, because sales in Iran weren’t included for May-June. But regional sales advanced in China/southeast Asia (+8% to 163,000 units), Latin America (+25% to 13,300) and India/Australia (+25% to 13,300).
