Crude oil futures fell 80 cents per barrel on Tuesday on the New York Mercantile Exchange to settle at $93.98, the lowest closing price since Dec. 19.

Crude oil futures fell 80 cents per barrel on Tuesday on the New York Mercantile Exchange to settle at $93.98, the lowest closing price since Dec. 19.

Analysts attribute the decline to growing fears that Greece might abandon the euro as its currency, thus destabilizing Europe's economy. Oil futures have been sliding for several weeks on prospects that energy demand could weaken.

U.S. gasoline prices, which topped $3.90 per gallon a month ago, have fallen to an average of $3.73 nationwide, according to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
